Job Summary

The Assistant Operations Manager will support the daily operations of a chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient production processes, safety compliance, and consistent quality output. This role involves close coordination with production, lab, R&D, inventory, and customer support teams to drive operational excellence, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure optimal resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Management

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing daily production activities to meet output and quality targets.

  • Monitor and control process parameters to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards during production.

2. Lab Management & Support

  • Coordinate with the QA/QC laboratory to ensure raw materials, intermediates, and finished products meet quality specifications.

  • Support lab teams in product testing, troubleshooting, and compliance with analytical procedures.

3. Inventory Movement & Control Management

  • Monitor raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory in coordination with warehouse and procurement teams.

  • Ensure timely inventory movement and accurate stock records in ERP or inventory management systems.

  • Conduct cycle counts and support audits.

4. Planning & Technical Support

  • Collaborate with planning teams to develop production schedules based on demand forecasts and resource availability.

  • Participate in cross‑functional technical problem‑solving activities.

5. Continuous Improvement Management

  • Support Lean, Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma initiatives within the plant.

6. R&D Implementation

  • Work with the R&D team to implement pilot projects and scale‑up new product introductions.

7. Leadership & Motivational Acumen

  • Serve as supervisor and mentor role, ensuring high team performance.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.

8. Customer Advisory

  • Assist in providing technical and operational support to customers on product applications or specifications.

  • Support customer audits and ensure timely resolution of customer complaints related to product quality or delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or a related process industry.

  • Experience in supervisory or assistant managerial role will be a plus.

  • Hands‑on experience with chemical plant operations, quality systems, and safety protocols.

  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and safety standards.

  • Knowledge of ISO, GMP, OSHA, or other regulatory frameworks.

  • Experience in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and inventory software.

  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.

Preferred Certifications (optional but advantageous)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher

  • Lean Manufacturing Certification

  • ISO/Internal Auditor Certification

  • Safety Management Training

Working Conditions
  • 5 days non‑shift work week
