Responsibilities
Productivity
  • Deploy and assign projects to his supervisors
  • Ensure all Mechanical jobs are completed and not affecting undocking schedule.
  • Evaluate and assess staff work performance under his charge as per required
  • Assess on-board or in-workshop work progress, verify against reported work progress
  • Planning of department manpower projections, highlights shortfall or spare resources
  • Identify training needs for his subordinates
  • Manage departmental staff upgrading training and knowledge in shipbuilding.
  • Attend to Works meeting
  • Check and monitor of sub-contractor deployment
  • Monitor Works adherence to SOP
  • Attend VSCC if required
Quality
  • Manage departmental improvement processes to improve quality of work
  • Evaluate quality of Works for New Con and Repair
  • Process Improvement to Improve Quality
Safety
  • Monitor and review departmental BBS and hazard reporting program
  • Implement divisional and departmental safety work plan
  • Perform safety audits on departmental safety practices and employees
Requirements
  • Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
  • Preferably 4 - 8 years of working experiences in marine industry or similar capacity
  • Knowledge of class and Solas requirements
  • Good knowledge and exposure of shipbuilding.
  • Resourceful and able to adapt to changes on short notice.
  • Ability to continuously review current jobs and inject new ideas to improve work methods.
  • Leadership quality with managerial skills.
