A government ministry in Singapore is seeking a candidate to conduct research on public sentiments regarding digital policy issues. The role involves advising stakeholders and requires strong communication, research skills, and a proactive mindset. Ideal for individuals interested in public policy and digital society issues. Competitive compensation is expected.
At MDDI, we envision a government where key decisions about policies and how we communicate are informed by insights on how our citizens think about the issues at stake. We call this Sentiments and Behavioural Research (SBR) – quantitative, qualitative, and behavioural insights research that seek to understand how people think about an issue and how they might respond to a policy. This understanding helps to shape the policies we make, and how we communicate. Ultimately, it impacts Singaporeans’ day-to-day lives. Find out more about SBR at https://www.mddi.gov.sg/what-we-do/research-and-data/who-we-are/.
You will be part of a high-performing team that undertakes in-depth research work that is aimed at helping the ministry gain a better understanding of public sentiments across key clusters of Government. The team’s role is to leverage evidence-based approaches to advise stakeholders on key policy, programme and communication interventions. To succeed in this role, you will need to have an objective and evaluative mind to provide rational perspectives on public policy issues, to develop partnerships with key agencies, and effectively tap into a range of research tools.
The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) drives Singapore’s digital development in four key domains — the economy, government, security, and society. MDDI oversees the development of the infocomm technology, cybersecurity, and media sectors; the Government’s digitalisation initiatives; and the national library, national archives, and public libraries. The Ministry is also responsible for effective public communications, and the Government’s information and public communication policies.
