Job Title: Assistant Manager / Manager (Office of Undergraduate Programmes)

Job Description

The candidate for this position will be part of the Undergraduate Programmes team in the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) Dean’s Office. Our dynamic team oversees and manages the academic journey for undergraduate students, from admissions to graduation. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who are looking to join us in enabling flexible education pathways while upholding the highest academic standards.

Academic Student Support and Case Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end management of student requests such as leave of absence, fee waiver, withdrawal, reinstatement, and extension of candidature.
  • Triage and resolve cases efficiently by partnering with department counterparts and other stakeholders.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support sound decision-making.
Student Accessibility and Special Consideration
  • Act as the CDE liaison for students needing accessibility support and accommodation (ASA) or special consideration (SC), in support of NUS’ commitment to inclusivity.
  • Guide, advise and partner department counterparts to deliver personalised support and follow-up for ASA and SC students.
  • Propose and implement cross-functional process improvements to ensure a fair and seamless process for students.
Post-Examinations Processing and Student Awards
  • Uphold operational excellence in processes leading up to the key academic milestones of results release and degree conferment, such as student awards, apply for graduation, and graduating student data checks.
  • Oversee cross-team coordination of department counterparts, to perform their tasks in line with expectations of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. donors).
  • Continually improve operations each semester to ensure timely completion and accurate record keeping under strict protocols and tight turnaround times.
Miscellaneous Duties
  • Any other duties or new initiatives as assigned, in line with CDE’s dynamic business needs and strategic priorities.
  • Propose and lead initiatives to streamline operations and elevate the student and staff experience, through technology, automation, and best practices.
  • More senior members of the team may be given the opportunity to assume key coordinating roles for department-wide events and initiatives such as Commencement and Freshman Welcome.
Qualifications
  • A good Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience.
  • Highly efficient and organised in meeting tight timelines.
  • Strong service orientation towards students and internal stakeholders.
  • Exercises sound judgment in balancing empathy with efficiency.
  • Handles sensitive information with tact and discretion.
  • Proficient in digital tools such as Microsoft Office and motivated to learn new technologies.
  • A proven track record in the following areas would be advantageous:
    • Curiosity and aptitude for lifelong learning.
    • Adept in logical and analytical thinking, with the ability to break down complex problems and connect the dots.
    • Experience in driving data- or AI-enabled decision-making.
