The SGH Research and Innovation Office (RIO) oversees the SGH’s overall research and innovation strategies, synergising capabilities in support of the research and innovation vision of the Hospital, which is “To advance and transform care for individual and population health, through conducting world‑class research and innovation and nurturing a community of future‑ready healthcare research professionals”. Responsibilities
- Develop an overarching innovation strategic plan to develop innovation in SGH.
- Implement the innovation strategic plan and coordinate the cross‑functional collaborations and interactions of the various innovation entities in SGH and SingHealth Duke-NUS AMC.
- Engage stakeholders from Industry, funding agencies, investors, policy makers, Institutes of Higher Learning, Research institutions, etc to:
- Position SGH as the preferred partner‑of‑choice for medical innovation
- Facilitate appropriate partnerships with various stakeholders.
- Horizon‑scan for innovation opportunities.
- Support spin‑offs/start‑ups to capture value.
- Oversee innovation governance.
- Oversee career development of innovators in SGH.
- Support RIO to enable research and innovation in SGH.
Key Actions as part of RIO
- Support the Senior Manager, Innovation to execute the external‑facing innovation initiatives for innovation partnerships and collaborations, intellectual property protection and value capture/ commercialization.
- Facilitate collaborations/partnerships and agreements negotiations between SGH and partners.
- Coordinate intellectual property protection and management.
- Support value capture/commercialisation of innovation through licensing, spin‑offs/start‑ups, investments, etc.
- Coordinate with external, cluster and internal stakeholders to drive the above innovation projects/initiatives/activities.
- Provide secretariat support for RIO standing meetings (e.g. Innovation Decision Group, Innovation Exco, Innovation Grant Review Committee, etc.) and other research and innovation strategy related meetings/engagements.
- Work closely with and augment the other RIO functions for innovation‑related projects/initiatives i.e. supporting:
- innovation‑related grant applications, review and management
- innovation‑related projects IRB and HSA application and approval
- negotiating, expediting and executing innovation‑related agreements e.g. NDA, MOU, RCA, CTA, licensing agreements, service agreements, etc.
- innovation‑related strategies and communications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or related studies.
- Proficient in MS Office software, including MS Access.
- Meticulous, analytical and organized.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to relate well with all levels of staff.
