Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Accounting Function

1.1 To oversee all financial matters to ensure proper utilisation of funds, accountability and internal control (both routine maintenance and development work). To prepare and monitor effective use of yearly budget and highlight inconsistencies to management's attention.

1.2 To approve the disbursement of funds for authorised payment of expenses for maintenance and operation of the hospital to a standard comparable to the market in accordance with prevailing accounting policies of SANH.

1.3 To prepare, interpret and analyse monthly financial statement and advise management on any unusual findings.

1.4 To carry out credit policies to prevent bad debts while maintaining favourable public relations with customers.

1.5 To set up and maintain a system of inventory and fixed asset control and with yearly physical stock take to verify status of asset against records, whenever necessary.

1.6 To participate in the formulation of financial policies through the submission of papers to the Finance/Audit/Management Committee under the directive of the ED and advice of SAMH.

1.7 To act as a liaison between external/internal auditor and the nursing home.

1.8 To ensure quality records are maintained within the statutory required retention periods through proper identification, filing, storage, maintenance and disposition of records.

1.9 To regularly review pricing and cost and recommend changes to management in view of changing market forces.

2. Financial information System

2.1 To work with the IT Department in the development, maintenance and the security control of SANH's financial information system.

2.2 To provide advice on the financial accounting system interface in implementing or introducing new information technology to the nursing home.

3. Administrative/Supervisory Duties

3.1 To supervise the finance team.

3.2 To participate in the design and implementation of new projects within Finance Departmentor in interdepartmental committees/Quality Control Circles.

3.3 To review, document, formulate and/or recommend changes to financial policies for the nursing home’s future development.

3.4 Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
