Job summary

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) Technology Division is seeking an Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager for a one-year assignment to help plan and implement technology strategies, manage R&D programmes and engage with external parties. You will support development of initiatives and draft business cases for funding.

Qualifications

• Trained in Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines.
• Excellent communication and writing skills to communicate and market ideas effectively.
• Professionalism and confidence in dealing with people at all levels, especially with industry stakeholders and other government agencies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, and good team player with ability to build consensus.
• A positive ‘can-do’ attitude amidst a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Experience in Managing R&D or similar programmes is advantageous.
• Public sector experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge and experience in aviation trends and developments.
• Cross-functional and senior stakeholder engagement is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage existing programmes and funding sources, including tracking of KPIs, meeting secretariat duties, grant administration and utilization.

What the role is:

CAAS Technology Division plans and implement strategies to enhance Singapore’s competitiveness as an international air hub through research and innovation. We oversee innovation programmes and initiatives for existing as well as emerging areas in aviation including (i) air traffic management, (ii) airport operations, (iii) unmanned aircraft systems and (iv) sustainable aviation.
Within each area, our focus/priorities are to:
1. Develop initiatives and programmes to mature R&D projects into operational capabilities; and
2. Develop capabilities in local industry and research institutes to enhance Singapore’s competitiveness as an air hub.

What you will be working on:
