Assistant Manager (Contracts Specialist) – Projects & Commercial Support
Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Contracts Specialist to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of our ongoing projects. This role involves maintaining clear documentation, safeguarding contractual interests, and supporting project teams in delivering successful outcomes. You will act as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and external consultants on all contract-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the lifecycle of project contracts, including correspondence tracking, documentation upkeep, and proper filing of agreements and amendments.
  • Analyse tender packages, contract clauses, and commercial terms to highlight potential risks or non-compliant conditions.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate contract adjustments, including change requests, variations, and revised valuations.
  • Draft formal communications such as notifications, clarifications, and contractual letters in alignment with project timelines and contractual rules.
  • Support the preparation of time-related and cost-related claims (EOT, prolongation, disruption), ensuring that substantiation and evidence are complete.
  • Coordinate and submit progress payment applications; follow up on payment certifications and assist in resolving discrepancies.
  • Produce periodic commercial and contractual status reports for management review.
  • Lead pre-award and post-award contract reviews, participating in upstream (client) and downstream (subcontractor) negotiations.
  • Monitor and respond to contractual time limits, ensuring compliance with notice requirements.
  • Provide commercial insights and recommendations to mitigate risks or navigate potential disputes.
  • Ensure adherence to internal processes and governance frameworks related to contract administration.
  • Represent the organisation professionally in all client and subcontractor dealings regarding commercial or contractual issues.
  • Work with project leaders, legal teams, and external consultants to support dispute resolution where required.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, monitoring performance and ensuring alignment with contractual obligations.
  • Apply knowledge of both local and international standard contract forms in day-to-day operations.
  • Communicate complex commercial concepts clearly to team members, demonstrating good judgement and independent decision‑making.
