Job Title: Maintenance Assistant Engineer (Logistics Plant – Electrical & Mechanical)
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Assistant Engineer to support the operations of our logistics plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of packaging, conveying, and material handling systems through preventive and corrective maintenance, with a strong focus on minimising downtime and ensuring smooth equipment operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging, conveyor, and facility equipment within the logistics plant.
- Troubleshoot and resolve faults across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to support operational continuity.
- Conduct predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Utilise CMMS to track maintenance activities and analyse component failures.
- Plan and execute scheduled shutdown maintenance.
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians.
- Liaise with external vendors for fabrication works and parts procurement.
- Manage inventory of critical spare parts and determine required stock levels.
- Oversee commissioning of new equipment and provide technical reports.
- Maintain proper documentation for all maintenance tasks and report daily to supervisors.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management on maintenance performance and improvements.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure adherence to workplace safety and health (WSH) standards.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and collaborate with operations on equipment failure investigations.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence within the plant.
- Mentor and guide junior technicians in technical skills and safety procedures.
- Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an automated logistics or warehouse environment.
- Solid knowledge of AC drives, electrical motors, pneumatic systems, and conveyor systems (roller/chain).
- Proficient in reading and modifying PLC programs.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and ability to read single-line diagrams.
- Experience working with low voltage distribution boards and lighting systems.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with CMMS tools.
- Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts and be on standby when required.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
