Job summary

A government agency in Singapore seeks an experienced individual for the role of AD/SM Technology Strategy and Plans. The successful candidate will manage strategic initiatives that support the Smart Nation and Digital Economy. This includes formulating policies, maintaining project oversight, and fostering collaborations with the R&D ecosystem. Qualifications

What the role is:

The role of AD/SM Technology Strategy and Plans, Technology Office (TO), is to manage strategic initiatives to support MDDI’s Smart Nation and Digital Economy (SNDE) initiatives.

What you will be working on:
  • Develop a good understanding of the key emerging digital technology areas
  • Formulate policies, plans and strategies and fund strategic initiatives to support our digital agenda
  • Maintain oversight of a portfolio of projects under funded under the NRF’s Research Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) funds
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative assessments to measure the progress of our R&D programmes
  • Work closely with government agencies and the R&D ecosystem (academia and industry) to grow local capabilities and develop translation strategies
  • Support key decision makers (i.e. MDDI Senior Management, Ex-Co) on matters concerning the direction, progress and budget utilisation of SNDE programmes
What we are looking for:
  • Minimum 3-10 years experience in policy, strategic planning or sector development role
  • Minimum 3-10 years of experience working in a relevant digital technology sector (e.g. AI, Cybersecurity, Infocomm, Quantum)
  • A keen eye on opportunities in exploiting the technology, and in the potential risks it brings, the ability to network and work well with technical experts
  • The ability to relate with technical and non-technical (layman) people alike. He or she should be able to communicate technical ideas in an effective manner with senior management
  • Familiarity with Singapore RIE landscape is advantageous
