Job description

We are looking for an experienced Application Specialist for a global shipping client. The Application Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting innovative ICT solutions and projects, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across business units. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, devising solutions, ensuring quality assurance, and delivering ongoing user support. The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of relevant experience and proficiency in VESLINK IMOS, Power BI, and familiarity with COMPAS crew management system.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirement Analysis and Solution Development
  - Analyze project proposals, assessing feasibility, resource needs, risks, and compatibility with existing systems.
  - Translate operational business requirements into functional specifications and drive objectives from requirements to final implementations.
• Project Management and Execution
  - Manage both in-house and outsourced projects to align with scope, budget, and schedule, overseeing detailed project plans.
  - Design, develop, test, and deploy applications meeting organizational needs.
  - Create applications or scripts for data extraction, transformation, and migration between systems.
• Data Management and Presentation
  - Research, validate, and present data for decision-making purposes across internal and external channels.
  - Ensure the integrity and efficiency of data processing and information systems.
• System Maintenance and Support
  - Maintain application systems by adapting to user requests and upgrading operating, database, or thirdparty software systems.
  - Provide application support and training to optimize user efficiency,
  troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Documentation and Disaster Recovery
  - Develop and update system documentation, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  - Contribute to disaster recovery planning and execution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field with 5-6 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in VESLINK IMOS, Power BI, and familiarity with COMPAS crew management system.
• Strong analytic, technical, and communication skills.
• Hands‑on experience in IT integration projects.
• Knowledge of project management tools, Microsoft Windows, databases (e.g., SQL, Oracle), and various programming languages and technologies.
• Familiarity with networking, cloud solutions, and system architecture.
• Additional knowledge in data warehousing, business analytics, Oracle Fusion Applications, and Oracle integration is advantageous.
