Job summary

Festo is seeking an Application Engineer with a strong electric automation background in Singapore. You will serve as a technical consultant to customers, providing best-in-class solutions and driving Electric Automation business with the sales team.

You will perform feasibility studies, implement complex motion tasks with electric drives, and support the full cycle from pre-sales to post-sales commissioning, ensuring a smooth user experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Good knowledge of electric automation including PLCs, Motion, Drives and Fieldbus systems.

Responsibilities

• Work as a technical expert in electric automation to guide customers to system concepts.
• Perform feasibility studies via simulations or sample setups and integrate solutions into customers' control environments.
• Lead the implementation of complex motion tasks using electric drives.
• Provide end-to-end support from pre-sales to post-sales commissioning, remotely or onsite.
• Identify and develop opportunities in Electric Automation with sales to expand accounts.
• Assist in defining pricing and conditions based on value.Added for the customer.
• Organize training and workshops to elevate competency in electric automation.

Role Description

We are looking for an Application Engineer with a strong electric automation background who acts as a technical reference figure to customer, providing best technical consultation and solutions to customer applications with high commercial competitiveness. Leveraging the electric automation knowhow to work closely with sales team and proactively drive Electric Automation business expansion by uncovering potential and identifying business opportunities.

What you will do

• Work as a technical expertise/consultant in electric automation to customer and guide to a system conceptual solution combining different technologies to fulfil customer requirements.
• Perform feasibility studies by means of sample setups, simulations or calculations, and integrate application solutions into the customer's control environment.
• Responsible for the implementation of complex motion tasks using electric drives.
• Hold end-to-end accountability to support customer from pre-sales solution proposal to post-sales commissioning advisory, remote or onsite, to ensure a smooth user experience.
• Proactively drive further growth in Electric Automation: Create new opportunities in focus customers from a team pairing approach with salesperson and lead electric automation account planning.
• Support salesperson in defining the right price and conditions for a solution based on the value add.
• Organize training and workshops, for internal and external, to elevate the awareness and competency in electric automation.

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 – 4 years’ experience in the field of factory automation application, relating to commissioning of PLC, electrical drives, and motor.
• Knowhow of electric automation: PLCs, Motion, Drives, Fieldbus system (EtherCAT, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, etc.), PC based programming languages, and selection of electric actuators.
• Programming experiences of common PLC brands, preferably Siemens and OMRON.
• Candidate with proficient knowhow and understanding in the market players of electric automation on their product range, features, and unique selling points would be a bonus.
