Overview

Consultant Anatomical Pathologist – a Consultant Surgical (Anatomic) Pathologist position is available at a long standing tertiary hospital in Singapore. This is a great opportunity to join one of the major healthcare groups in Singapore providing tertiary care to a resident population of 1.5 million in the central and northern regions. The position is based in the Anatomic Pathology Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM). The anatomical pathology laboratory is accredited with the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

The Pathologist will work closely with surgical pathology colleagues from two other hospitals to provide anatomical pathology services to the main hospital and potentially to other facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic reporting of a range of general histopathology and cytopathology cases.
  • Intraoperative consults and validation and quality control of laboratory processes.
  • Leadership of the surgical pathology service and other consultative services to staff of various clinical disciplines.
  • Regular interaction with surgical and oncology services, attendance at multidisciplinary tumour boards and tissue audit committee meetings.
  • Administrative and educational duties, including serving on hospital and external committees (up to national level) related to the specialty.
  • Teaching of staff at different levels, including medical undergraduates, resident physicians, surgical pathology trainee doctors, and laboratory technical staff.
  • Research opportunities with collaboration with colleagues from the hospital and other institutions.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree suitable for registration with the Singapore Medical Council.
  • Specialist postgraduate qualifications such as FRCPA, FRCPath with CCT from the UK, American Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology from the U.S., or Australasian Fellowship for accreditation as a Specialist Pathologist with the Singapore Specialists Accreditation Board.
  • Appointment based on relevant years of experience as a Surgical Pathologist.
