Job description

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Apply GMP/GLP standards in all areas of responsibility as appropriate
  • Organise and conduct routine analyses independently and in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Document work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records
  • Use and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and software appropriate for assigned tasks, while learning to perform routine and non‑routine maintenance
  • Provide input and participate in project meetings
  • Perform peer review and QC review of data
  • Complete assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively finish multiple assignments
  • Contribute to a cohesive team environment and maintain a positive attitude; plan workload in coordination with team members
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment
  • Understand data generated and the history of methods
  • Recognise deviations from normal results and inform the Study Director, Principal Investigator or management of any problems or deviations that may affect data integrity, and participate in corrective action
  • Identify problems, determine appropriate actions, and implement solutions with support or independently as necessary
  • Adapt to new procedures or particular needs as directed
  • Identify critical steps in an assay
  • Lead process‑improvement initiatives
  • Complete all required training courses
  • Train and assist less experienced staff
  • Assist in optimising and validating methods for a variety of matrices
  • Participate in client visits or calls as needed
  • Learn to write text for reports, methods and protocols
  • Understand departmental procedures and policies
  • Serve as a resource within the team
  • Conduct all activities safely and efficiently
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • University degree in a relevant field (laboratory experience may substitute for the degree)
  • Work with potentially hazardous substances and/or radio‑labelled materials
  • Mandatory immunisations and screening as required
  • Understand the process for handling hazardous waste and receive on‑the‑job training for handling specific waste types in the job area
  • Be exposed to food allergens (e.g., milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.)
  • Stand and sit for long periods, including working in a laboratory hood and standing at a bench top
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Work overtime and on weekends as required
