Job summary

Rakuten Asia in Singapore is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications. You will work with Java, Spring Boot and React to deliver AI-powered experiences and backend services.

The role requires 1–3 years of software development experience, strong Java/React skills, and a solid grasp of APIs, databases and agile practices. Office-based role in Singapore with opportunities to work across APAC projects.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong hands-on experience in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and web applications.
• Good understanding of OOP and design patterns.
• Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience with unit/integration testing frameworks such as JUnit/Mockito.
• Good understanding of HTTP/REST/JSON/HTML/CSS.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain scalable full-stack web applications using Java, Spring Boot and React.
• Develop backend REST APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and related Java technologies.
• Develop responsive frontend applications using React and TypeScript.
• Comply with full SDLC from requirements analysis to production support.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Data Scientists to deliver AI-powered capabilities.
• Write well-designed, testable and maintainable code following best practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including design documents and API specs.
