Job summary

SCIENTEC CONSULTING PTE. LTD. is seeking an AI Engineer to join a Singapore-led initiative within the Smart Nation and Digital Government space.

You will design, build, and operate backend services and AI-powered capabilities, working in a hybrid setup at Pasir Panjang. You will collaborate with product teams and partner organizations, own features end-to-end, and ensure reliability, scalability, and secure deployments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–5 years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong Python backend development with FastAPI or Flask.
• Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure.
• Familiarity with LLMs, RAG architectures, and vector databases.
• Experience with prompt engineering is a plus.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python.
• Own backend feature development end-to-end from design to deployment.
• Build and maintain integrations with internal platforms and third-party services.
• Develop AI-powered backend capabilities for document ingestion and knowledge processing.
• Design data processing pipelines for reliable information retrieval.
• Work with relational and non-relational databases for scalable systems.
• Debug production issues and improve reliability and observability.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and partner teams to deliver backend solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold CI/CD, security, and maintainability.
• Contribute to platform architecture and developer experience improvements.

We are looking for AI Engineer to join one of the lead agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation and Digital Government ambitions:

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python.
• Own backend feature development end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Build and maintain integrations with internal platforms, external systems, and third-party services.
• Develop and enhance AI-powered backend capabilities, including document ingestion, retrieval, and knowledge processing services.
• Design and maintain data processing pipelines to support reliable and efficient information retrieval.
• Work with relational and non-relational databases to support performant, scalable, and resilient backend systems.
• Debug and resolve production issues, contributing to system reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers and partner teams to deliver high-quality backend solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices across testing, CI/CD, security, and maintainability.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform's architecture, performance, and developer experience.

How to Succeed

• Min 4-5 years of backend software engineering experience
• Proficiency in backend development with Python, including web frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure
• Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), or prompt engineering
• Proficiency with JavaScript/Typescript and Node.js will be an added advantage
