Job summary

AI Singapore, hosted by NTU, seeks an AI Engineer to join the AI Engineering Hub. You will mentor AIAP apprentices, guide project delivery, and define industry-use cases while developing innovative AI solutions and supporting partnerships to strengthen Singapore's AI ecosystem.

You will balance hands-on development with talent nurturing, collaborate with external partners, and contribute to talks, workshops, and outreach as part of AISG's industry and community-building initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree with at least 4 years of work experience in AI/ML
• Proven ability to deliver AI/ML projects end-to-end from scoping to deployment
• Hands-on experience with NLP, computer vision, or tabular data projects
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and related tooling (RAG, prompt engineering)
• Strong Python programming, clean code, and software engineering practices
• Familiar with MLOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers or apprentices

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution development for AI industry projects from scoping to deployment and maintenance
• Mentor AIAP apprentices during the Deep-skilling and project phases and provide technical coaching
• Collaborate with industry partners to identify, scope, and define project requirements and deliverables
• Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for potential industry collaborations
• Contribute to AI Singapore’s talks, seminars, workshops, journals, and outreach programs
• Support recruitment stages for AIAP and participate in industry community-building activities

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF), Singapore, to build and anchor deep national capabilities in AI. AISG is supported through a government-wide partnership including the NRF, Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Economic Development Board (EDB) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG). We bring together research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies to support impactful research, develop talent, and power Singapore's AI efforts.

This position will be hosted at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under VP (Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy)’s office and we welcome you to join our community.

The AI Engineering Hub (AIEH) aims to promote AI usage in the industry by developing AI solutions for companies. These industry engagements also serve as real-world projects for the AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP), which is dedicated to groom local AI talent and enhance their career with AI-related skills.

We are seeking an AI Engineer to join the AIEH team. In this role, you will mentor AIAP apprentices by guiding project delivery, defining industry-relevant use cases, and providing technical coaching on cutting-edge AI technologies. You will also contribute to the development of innovative AI solutions and internal technology initiatives. The incumbent will collaborate with external partners to identify meaningful project opportunities while balancing development work with talent nurturing responsibilities, playing a key role in strengthening Singapore's AI ecosystem.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Drive and work on tasks stemming from AIEH industry partnership projects and other AIAP-related programmes.

• Lead end-to-end solution development for industry AI projects, from scoping to deployment and maintenance.

• Train and mentor AI apprentices during the Deep-skilling and Project phase, and other umbrella programmes.

• Collaborate with industry partners to identify, scope, and define project requirements and deliverables.

• Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for potential industry collaborations.

• Participate, prepare and execute the AIAP recruitment stages.

• Support AI Singapore’s industry and community-building activities by contributing to talks, seminars, workshops, journals and other outreach programmes.

Requirements:

• Degree with at least 4 years of work experience.

  • End-to-End Project Delivery: Have a strong portfolio of AI/ML project(s) that showcases ability to deliver solutions from scoping and data analysis through deployment and documentation.

  • Applied Machine Learning:Possess deep, practical knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, with proven experience applying algorithms to solve problems in areas like NLP, Computer Vision, or on tabular data.

  • Generative AI & LLMs:Hands-on experience developing LLM-powered applications, includingPrompt Engineering,Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning using modern frameworks.

  • Software Engineering Excellence:Demonstrates expert-level Python skills and a strong commitment toSoftware Engineeringbest practices, writing code that is clean, modular, and maintainable.

  • MLOps & Cloud Proficiency:Fluent in the essential MLOps toolkit, including Git, Docker, and CI/CD principles.Have experience building data and model pipelines on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Passionate Mentor:Eager to guide and develop the next generation of AI talent, contributing to AISG Innovation’s collaborative and supportive team culture.
