Concordia AI in Singapore is seeking a research-focused professional to advance the field of AI x biosecurity. You will conduct in-depth studies at the intersection of frontier AI and life sciences, identifying risks and proposing governance strategies.

The role emphasizes developing threat models, evaluating AI biology tools, and communicating findings to policymakers, industry, and academia. Fluency in Chinese is advantageous for stakeholder collaboration.

Formación

As a core team member at Concordia AI, you will conduct in-depth research at the intersection of frontier AI and biosecurity, providing key decision support for AI x biosecurity governance across the policy, industry, and academic communities. Focusing on general-purpose large models, biology-specific AI models, AI agents, and automated labs, you will drive end-to-end research—from risk identification to mitigation strategy development.

• AI x Biosecurity Threat Modeling: Collaborate with domain experts to develop biosecurity threat models for general-purpose large models, biology-specific AI models, AI agents, and automated labs, defining risk thresholds and assessment criteria.
• AI x Biosecurity Benchmark Development: Independently design and build benchmarks for AI biological capabilities and safety. Systematically assess model performance across biological domain knowledge, complex task execution, and safety risk identification.
• AI x Biosecurity Red-Teaming & Mitigation Strategies: Conduct red-teaming evaluations on high-risk biological tasks, identify safety vulnerabilities across different models and agentic workflows. Test and validate SOTA risk mitigation strategies and protective safeguards.
• Technical & Policy Tracking for Governance Support: Track key technical advances and policy developments in AI x Biosecurity, translating research findings into research reports, policy recommendations, and technical proposals that inform biosecurity governance decisions.

Qualifications

Required

• Alignment with Concordia AI’s mission and strong interest in AI x Biosecurity, combined with a strong sense of responsibility, problem-solving skills, and rigorous scientific reasoning skills. Ability to drive frontier research independently while remaining a collaborative, proactive team player.
• Master’s degree or above in Synthetic Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Virology, Pathogen Biology, Biosecurity, or a related discipline.
• Genuine interest in AI and a fast learner.
• Familiar with experimental design and data analysis methodologies, capable of supporting biosecurity threat modeling, benchmark development, and risk assessment.
• Strong Chinese reading and writing skills, with proficient spoken Chinese for smooth communication.

Preferred

• Experience in AI-assisted biological design, nucleic acid synthesis, biosecurity risk assessments, or high-containment biosafety lab (BSL) operations.
• Hands-on experience in developing or applying AI models in life sciences.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in both Chinese and English language with Chinese and international biosecurity stakeholders.
