Job description

We are a retail business looking for an Accounts Manager who understands how money moves through daily store operations. This role goes beyond bookkeeping it requires strong business sense to manage daily cash flow, ensure collections are tracked accurately, time supplier payments strategically, and control expenses across multiple outlets. The right candidate must know how stock affects cash, read sales trends, identify risks, and guide smarter purchasing so that money isn’t stuck in slow moving inventory. As our financial gatekeeper, you will protect the company from cash leakage, enforce financial discipline, and support management with timely financial insights to grow the business steadily and responsibly.

Cashflow & Retail Collections
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow for multiple retail outlets.
  • Track and verify daily store collections, including cash, POS systems, and online marketplace payouts.
  • Plan and schedule supplier payments, negotiating terms to support healthier cashflow.
  • Prepare cashflow variance reports with recommendations to close gaps and reduce risks.
  • Liaise with banks regarding merchant settlements, company accounts, and facilities when required.
  • Enforce internal controls for cash handling, store reimbursements, petty cash, and operating.
Stock & Expense Control
  • Monitor purchasing decisions to ensure stock levels support expected demand without tying up cash in slow or excess inventory.
  • Highlight risks from slow moving stocks and support strategies such as returns, discounts, bundling, or negotiated rebates.
  • Control operational expenses across outlets and enforce approval procedures for spending.
Accounting Operations
  • Oversee full sets of accounts: AP, AR, GL, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of all accounting transactions and store reports.
  • Review and approve monthly reconciliations for bank, supplier, customer, inventory, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, aging reports, and expense analyses.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting through accurate financial insights and data trends.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and implement improvements based on audit recommendations.
Leadership & Internal Control
  • Strengthen financial policies and procedures to prevent financial leakage.
  • Supervise, guide, and train accounting staff to uphold discipline, accuracy, and timely reporting.
  • Improve workflow efficiency within the finance department and across retail outlets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Professional certifications such as ACCA/CPA are an advantage.)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience handling full sets of accounts, preferably in a retail or trading business.
  • Strong understanding of cashflow management, supplier terms, stock purchasing, and how inventory decisions impact cash in a retail environment.
  • Proficient in accounting software and comfortable working with POS systems and online marketplace transactions.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to read sales trends, identify risks, and highlight improvement opportunities.
  • High level of integrity, strong attention to detail, and responsibility in enforcing financial controls across outlets.
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and guide an accounts team.
  • Strong communication skills, able to work closely with management on financial decisions that support store operations and business growth.
