Job summary

A financial services company in Singapore is seeking an experienced accountant to manage financial records for a group of companies. The role involves preparing financial statements, handling month-end closings, managing foreign exchange transactions, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting. Candidates should hold a degree in Accounting or Finance and have at least 5 years of relevant experience, especially in the manufacturing industry. Proficiency in MYOB and MS Excel is essential, and fluency in English and Chinese is preferred.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/Review full set of accounts for a group of companies and ensure all transactions are recorded properly in accordance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Perform timely and accurate month-end closing and reconciliations, and ensure accounting schedules are updated accordingly
  • Plan monthly cash flow / budget, prepare/review payments/receipts and ensure cash books are updated timely and accurately
  • Prepare/Review the periodic management reports and conduct analytical review of the financial data
  • Manage all foreign exchange transactions, maintain accurate records of all foreign exchange transactions and reconcile discrepancies
  • Review the work of junior and peers in the accounts department, ensure day-to-day transactions are performed and recorded timely and accurately, and provide guidance as and when necessary
  • Ensure complete financial records filing and backups, and reinforce financial data confidentiality when necessary
  • Review purchase orders, sales invoices and related documents
  • Work closely with sales and logistics personnel to monitor and update the inventory/sales/account receivables/account payables records
  • Handle the yearly audit process and ensure timely tax and statutory filing
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting and analysis for operations
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements and disclosure notes
  • Communicate and sort out queries with external stakeholders, e.g. auditors, tax agents, banks, supplier, customers, etc.
  • Optimise and improve internal controls and procedures
  • Handle other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field with 5 years experience
  • Working experience in audit, accounting and/or financial analysis experience, preferably in manufacturing industry
  • Hands-on experience with MYOB or other accounting software
  • Proficient in MS Excel skills
  • Fluent in speaking and writing of English, Chinese and/or Cantonese
  • Self-motivated, proactive in problem-solving and committed to continuous improvement
  • Strongattention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and a good team player
  • Frequent travel may be required
