Job summary

FTI Consulting Singapore is seeking a full-time research intern for a minimum 16 weeks (with potential to extend up to six months). You will join the Business Intelligence and Risk & Investigations practice, supporting qualitative research, data gathering and reporting for regional clients.

You’ll learn to assess information, translate when needed, and contribute to investigative reports while gaining exposure to due diligence, asset searches and regulatory risk assessments across Southeast Asia

Qualifications

  • University student studying in social science, humanities, languages or business
  • A strong interest in research, business intelligence and due diligence work
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collection and analysis of information on individuals, companies, industries, markets or situations to support investigations and consulting assignments
  • Assess information sources for reliability, accuracy and relevance
  • Prepare research reports and presentations, linking charts or diagrams to findings
  • Conduct language research using local databases and media
  • Translate, interpret, or draft documents for regional clients as needed
  • Identify new information sources and manage resources for quality and cost effectiveness
  • Support other research tasks to develop the practice
  • Liaise with regional clients and partners with the project team

About the Role

Our Forensic and Litigation Consulting team in Singapore is involved in complex, global and high-profile due diligence, litigation, arbitration and investigations combining end-to-end risk advisory, investigative and disputes expertise to deliver holistic solutions for our clients.

This role would primarily support the Business Intelligence team which conducts investigative research and inquiries to uncover actionable intelligence and performs value-added analysis, which we provide in written reports to help decision-makers address and mitigate risk, protect assets, and make informed investment decisions to maximize opportunities. Interns may also contribute to Forensic Accounting engagements, gaining broader exposure to investigations and dispute-related work across the Risk & Investigations practice.

Our experts conduct independent research to help clients resolve a variety of issues, including:

  • Integrity due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and cross-border transactions

  • Business intelligence to answer specific questions

  • Assets searches to identify assets and other information relevant to our Clients

  • Anti-bribery and foreign corruption (FCPA / UK Bribery Act) investigations - Conflict of interest and other fraud investigations

  • Litigation, dispute resolution and compliance support - Political and regulatory risk assessments

What You’ll Do

We are seeking interns with a keen interest in research and an understanding of the business, geo-political, and regulatory environment of countries and jurisdictions in Southeast Asia or Greater China.

This role is focused on qualitative research and writing and requires language skills to effectively conduct research and engage with sources from those regions.

As an Intern, you will:

  • Assist with the collection and analysis of information on individuals, companies, industries, markets or situations to support investigative, business intelligence and consulting assignments.

  • Assist with the evaluation of information and sources for reliability, accuracy and relevance.

  • Assist in the preparation of research reports and presentations, and, where needed, link charts or similar diagrams to record investigative actions and findings.

  • Assist in language research, including the use of local databases and media.

  • Assist in translating, interpreting, or drafting documents for regional clients as needed.

  • Assist with the proactive identification of new sources of information and research as well as managing these resources to achieve high quality and cost effectiveness.

  • Assist with other research tasks to develop the practice.

  • Working with the project team in liaising with regional clients and partners.

What You Will Need to Succeed
Basic Qualifications
  • University student studying in social science, humanities, languages or business

  • A strong interest in research, business intelligence and due diligence work

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications
  • An interest in forensic accounting, investigations, fraud risk, or dispute-related matters, as interns may have opportunities to support multidisciplinary projects across the Risk & Investigations practice

  • Experience in qualitative research and analysis

  • Proficiency in Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, Korean, Japanese or Malay will be considered an advantage, particularly for engagement with regional sources and documents across Southeast Asia or Greater China

  • Good understanding of the local and regional political and business environment

  • A demonstrated self-starter and resourceful individual, with experience operating in fast paced and dynamic settings

  • Solid communication, research and writing skills

  • Critical thinking and attention to detail

We offer full-time internship opportunities all year round, for a period of 16 weeks minimally, with an ideal period of 6 months. Our research internship program is designed for current undergraduate students or graduate students in their penultimate or final year of their studies.
