A reputable educational institution in Singapore seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support science lessons and maintain laboratory operations. Responsibilities include preparing materials, ensuring lab safety, managing inventory, and supporting green initiatives. Candidates should possess GCE 'O' Level or higher qualifications in science and have basic lab experience. This role requires a responsible and adaptable individual who can work independently.

Option Year: 2 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027
Option to Extend: For a further period of 1 year (subject to school’s discretion)
Mon - Thurs: 7:15 am – 4:15 pm (incl. 30‑min lunch)
Fridays: 7:15 am – 3:45 pm (incl. 30‑min lunch)
No service required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.
Prepare materials, apparatus, and specimens for science lessons.
Set up and test experimental apparatus before lessons to ensure they function properly and safely.
Assist teachers in conducting practical lessons, demonstrations, and science experiments.
Dismantle setups and clean up after experiments, ensuring all equipment is properly stored.
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas.
Clean and wash laboratory apparatus, glassware, and equipment after use.
Ensure that equipment and facilities are well‑maintained and in working condition.
Assist in regular pest control, ventilation checks, and general upkeep of lab areas.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines.
Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals; ensure proper labelling of bottles and containers.
Assist in safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological waste.
Maintain inventory of science apparatus, chemicals, and consumables.
Conduct regular stock‑taking and update inventory records.
Prepare and propose procurement of science materials and equipment to HOD Science/LH Science.
Receive and verify delivery of ordered items and ensure proper storage.
Maintain plants and other living specimens used in science lessons.
Oversee operations of the hydroponic system and support upkeep of garden green spaces together with the landscaping company.
Collect plant specimens from the garden or hydroponic areas for science experiments.
Assist teachers in preparing materials for teaching and learning activities.
Coordinate with garden vendors regarding specimen collection and garden maintenance.
Assist with school operations and administrative tasks as assigned.
Provide support for events, scheduling and resource coordination when required.
Maintain records and documentation related to school processes.
Perform other duties as delegated by school management.
Minimum: GCE ‘O’ Level with passes in Science subjects, OR
NITEC / Higher NITEC in a Science‑related field.
Basic understanding of laboratory procedures, scientific measurements, and apparatus.
Competent in handling chemicals, reagents, and simple experimental setups.
Comfortable using technology and digital tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, basic data entry).
Able to maintain accurate inventory and laboratory records.
Prior experience in a school laboratory or administrative role is an advantage.
