Job description

Chemical Engineer (Material Planning)

  • Location: Tuas
  • (Company Transport / Transport Allowance if candidate travel to work by themselves)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8am – 5pm)
  • Basic: $3700 to $4000
Responsibilities:
  • To supervise and manage the functions of Repacking/Containment/ICW operations and Maintenance.
  • To monitor the safe process flow and backlog level of TIW waste.
  • To ensure the effectiveness and smoothness of coordination with operation and sales team and customer service maintaining high quality of services.
  • To monitor the outgoing containment purchase budget and encourage the recycling of used containment to save cost.
  • Daily and regular inspection of the operation processes and monitor the plant 5S and TPM activities, safety and discipline at works, machineries and equipment conditions.
  • Lead the daily safety toolbox meeting and regular inspection of PPE items that staffs at workplaces are enough for their safety.
  • Conduct periodic review of existing procedures and workflow of plant operations and functions in lines with cost effectiveness with maximum throughput.
  • Apply continued improvement or modification plans to maintain an excellent operational model.
  • Work with Lab chemists to evaluate and develop new treatment methods and handing procedures for new and unknown wastes, and review operation costs and regular update to management.
  • To ensure EHS compliance through the continual maintenance and improvement of ISO 45001 implementation and always maintain good housekeeping of site.
  • To prepare and analyse daily and monthly operation records/reports (e.g., cost, productivity, quality, non-conformance, etc.) on plant processing and maintenance. And follow up necessary corrective actions and monitor consistently to relevant department staff to follow up closely.
  • To compile annual budget of plant operations and maintenance for Director’s approval and to ensure expenditures are well within the budget allotment.
  • To work closely with operation staff and engineering staff to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedule for operations and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Regular briefing / training to be conducted to department staff for safety handling of repacking loose waste, MSDS, PPE requirement and risk assessment before operations.
  • To activate emergency response team of operation and maintenance staffs and response to any in-house spill and fire incident if in case of emergency.
  • To liaise with EHS department to ensure fellow dept staff are upkeep with method of handling and emergency equipment usages in terms of spills and fire incident and to conduct regular practice and drill exercises with different scenarios to workers so that they are well familiar in emergency to response in time.
  • As an ISO committee member, to develop and implement documents for operation procedures, such as SOP, RA and MOC, SWP and participate in auditing the various departments as an Internal Auditor.
