Job summary

Telenor IoT is seeking a System Engineer to strengthen the Cloud and Network Operations team. You will focus on stability, scalability, and performance of cloud services and networks, with on-call responsibilities and a proactive automation mindset.

You will work with a team handling monitoring, performance optimization, maintenance, and deployments, reporting to the Head of Cloud and Network Operations. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• Deep technical understanding of infrastructure design patterns.
• Engineer by experience and education with a mindset to improve and secure operations.
• Experience in one or more scripting languages (Python, NodeJS).
• Experience in network management, including Cisco equipment and VPNs, and 24/7 on‑call readiness.

We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team

At Telenor IoT, we are on a mission to connect the world through cutting‑edge IoT (Internet of Things) solutions. As a fast‑moving, innovative, and globally expanding company, we are seeking a System Engineer to strengthen our Cloud and Network Operations (CNO) team and ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of our technology platforms and services.

Role and main tasks

Cloud and Network Operations own the responsibility of Telenor Connexion internal systems as well as core platforms, cloud services and networks delivering services to our customers.

As a System Engineer you will be part of the operational responsibility of our cloud and IP core environment. We believe you have a few years of experience working with any of the large vendors, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud and Cisco. We believe you have a strong operational mindset where the availability of our environments and services are highly prioritized and you will be responsible of our solutions for tomorrow.

You will be working with an experienced team, handling the daily operations of our environment. In this role, you will be working with monitoring, performance optimization, maintenance, automation and scalability of Telenor Connexion services.

This role reports directly to the Head of Cloud and Network Operations.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Member of the team responsible for the operations of our cloud environment and physical data centres
• Member of the team responsible for operations and maintenance of integrations
• Collaborate with the Technology department on architectural decisions related to our cloud environment and infrastructure
• Member of the team responsible for setting requirements on new design, systems or applications that will be deployed in our environment from an operational and security perspective
• Cost and capacity management of our platforms
• Development and deployment of needed processes and tools for operations
• Enable complete surveillance and monitoring for platforms, services and infrastructure
• Operations stakeholder in development projects related to our cloud environment, infrastructure and integrations
• Member of the team responsible for keeping documentation within Cloud and Network Operations up to date
• Always strive for improvements in our deployment, operations and support
• On‑call outside office hours is applied on a scheduled basis
• You have the ability to see automation possibilities and the skills to execute them

Experience and skills

• Deep technical understanding of infrastructure design patterns
• Engineer by experience and education with a mindset to always improve and secure our operations and delivery to customers and users
• Experience in one or more of the common scripting languages (Python, NodeJS) and a willingness to learn additional languages
• Experience in network management, including Cisco equipment and VPNs, and readiness for 24/7 on‑call
• Extensive knowledge of managing cloud environments, infrastructure, and integrations
• Knowledge of design and best practices of cloud environments
• Comfortable in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, NodeJS, etc.) and not afraid to learn additional ones
• Knowledge of managing Cisco equipment, routing and VPN
• Understanding of concepts in Communication and Network Security
• Strong experience in system administration (Linux)
• Experience with services offered in cloud environments, primarily Amazon Web Services
• Experience and understanding of CI/CD
• Experience in cloud environment monitoring
