Job summary

Diamyd Medical's state-of-the-art Biologics Manufacturing facility in Umeå invites an experienced Upstream Process Engineer to join its team, focusing on cell culture, process development and scale-up under GMP.

You will work hands-on in lab and cleanrooms, collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and Analytical groups, and contribute to robust upstream operations from shake flasks to bioreactors. Fluency in Swedish and English is expected.

Qualifications

• University education in a relevant scientific discipline or long life science experience.
• Several years of work with cell cultivation and expression vector systems.
• Experience with bioanalytical techniques (HPLC, WB, ELISA).
• GMP experience and clean room work are advantageous.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent in Swedish and English.

An exciting opportunity to join Diamyd Medical's own biologic manufacturing facility in Umeå as process engineer for upstream bioprocessing

As Upstream Process Engineer, you will play a key role in the manufacturing and process development of biologics, ensuring robust and efficient upstream operations in a GMP-regulated environment. Working closely with colleagues across Manufacturing, Quality and Analytical teams, you will contribute to the successful cultivation, scale-up and production of cell-based processes. The role combines hands-on laboratory and cleanroom work with scientific problem-solving and process optimization, offering an opportunity to be part of an innovative organization advancing biologics manufacturing. You will report to the Manufacturing Manager. Key responsibilities:

Relevant background and experience:

• University education in a relevant scientific discipline (pharmacy, biotechnology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences or similar) or long experience in life science industry.
• Several years of work with cell cultivation.
• Experienced in cell cultivation and expression vector systems.
• Experience with bioanalytical techniques (such as electrophoresis, HPLC, WB, ELISA).
• Experience from cell cultivation in bioreactors is a plus.
• Used to work in a quality-controlled business, according to GMP, ISO is a plus.
• Experience from work in clean rooms is a plus.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English
