Up to 2 Lecturers in Information Technology with specialization in Programming Technologies
Uppsala University, Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We have approximately 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 PhD students.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and administration, including course responsibility and course administration. Teaching in programming, software development and related areas is expected.
  • Follow developments within the subject area and societal developments relevant to the university.
  • Educational administrative and management tasks such as leading teaching teams, course renewal and supervising undergraduate students.
Qualifications Required
  • Higher‑education degree with subject specialization in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.
  • Teaching expertise: pedagogical skills relevant to the employment content and tasks.
  • Completed teacher training of relevance to higher education (ten weeks), or equivalent knowledge. Training may be completed during the first year of employment if special circumstances apply.
  • Documented ability to teach in Swedish or English, unless special reasons prevail.
  • Personal capabilities necessary to carry out fully the duties of the appointment.
  • Documented experience of programming at a higher education institution, or relevant industry experience.
Assessment Criteria

The ranking of eligible applicants will be based primarily on subject specialization and teaching expertise, with weight given to teaching expertise. Experience in programming technologies, including languages, software engineering, and design, will be given special weight.

Administrative Expertise

Administrative expertise is important for the employment and will be given high consideration. Demonstrated capacity to plan, organise, prioritise work efficiently, manage resources, and exhibit entrepreneurship.

Collaboration Expertise

Collaboration expertise is a merit for the employment. Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and implement interaction with the surrounding community, including publications, public debate, lectures, patent applications, commercialization and industrial cooperation.

Industrial Expertise

Industrial expertise is a merit. Demonstrated experience from professional practice outside academia in the subject area, including applying programming technologies in practical settings and knowledge of industry development methods, tools and collaborative work processes.

Further Information

Parental leave, part‑time care, union assignments, military service or the like are regarded as work experience in the overall assessment.

About the Position

This is an open‑ended appointment (a probationary period may apply). The position is full‑time. Starting date is 1 January 2027 or as agreed. Place of work: Uppsala.
