This Position reports to: Country Trade Compliance Officer.

Your role and responsibilities

In the Country Trade Compliance team in ABB Sweden, we are supporting the local business divisions in implementing ABB’s global trade program. We provide expert advice, system support in SAP GTS, training, and we follow up on the trade internal control program.

We are now looking for our next expert in Export Controls & Sanctions knowledge, with extensive experience in SAP GTS. As a professional, you are analytical, solution-oriented, and have a strong sense of ownership. In collaboration with different stakeholders, you support local business divisions in various export controls & sanctions matters and drive the work in SAP GTS screening and Legal Control. In this expert role, you will be a member of the Country Trade Compliance department, reporting to the Country Trade Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on applicable Swedish, EU, and US export control and sanctions regulations relevant to the company’s operations and transactions.
  • Provide deep subject matter expertise in export classification, licensing, and sanctions compliance, including screening requirements.
  • Provide strategic, business-oriented guidance on complex trade compliance matters, including regulatory obligations, screening considerations, and risk‑based decision‑making.
  • Drive and support the implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement of SAP GTS or equivalent trade compliance systems, applying expert‑level knowledge to ensure robust and compliant operations.
  • Interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable business processes.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and proactively assess implications for the company’s operations and relevant business functions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of hands‑on experience in export control and sanctions compliance, with proven expert‑level knowledge and experience in regulatory advisory.
  • Fluency in Swedish and English is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in configuring trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS), including deep functional understanding beyond user‑level operation.
  • Recognized as a senior expert with the ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and advise senior stakeholders on regulatory strategy and risk.
  • Deep expertise in SE, EU, and US regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred: Experience in implementing and configuring screening tools, with a strong understanding of how to customize the setup to meet applicable regulatory needs and internal compliance processes.
