Job description

Would you like to work hands-on with testing, electronics and verification in an advanced technical environment?

We are currently looking for a Type Test Engineer to join a large international industrial company in Västerås. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work in a laboratory environment and wants to develop their expertise within testing, verification and type testing of technically complex products.

You will become part of an experienced test team, working closely with products, test equipment and other engineers. The position is suitable both for recent graduates and for those who already have a few years of experience within testing, electronics or product development.

About the role

As a Type Test Engineer, you will work with verification and type testing of electronic products and systems to ensure that they function as intended and comply with relevant technical and regulatory requirements.

The role is highly practical, with a large part of the work carried out in a laboratory environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing and building test setups
  • Connecting products, cabling and test equipment
  • Performing practical tests and measurements
  • Conducting tests within areas such as EMC, environmental conditions, mechanical impact and electrical safety
  • Troubleshooting when test results or measurements deviate from expectations
  • Analysing and documenting test results
  • Working according to relevant standards and test methods
  • Collaborating with engineers within product development, verification and product ownership

You will be working with technically complex products, which means that much of the product-specific knowledge will be built over time. You will therefore have good opportunities to learn from more senior colleagues within the team.

Who are we looking for?

We believe you have a technical education within a relevant field, such as:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics
  • Or a related technical field

You may be a recent graduate or have a few years of professional experience.

Most importantly, you have a fundamental understanding of electronics and enjoy working hands-on with technology.

We believe you:
  • Have a practical and technical mindset
  • Are comfortable working hands-on in a laboratory environment
  • Have a basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems
  • Enjoy troubleshooting and understanding why something works – or why it does not
  • Work in a structured and methodical way
  • Are curious and comfortable learning new technical products and systems
  • Can communicate clearly and explain how you have approached technical tasks

Previous experience within testing, verification, measurement equipment or laboratory work is considered an advantage, but is not a requirement.

It is also beneficial if you have previous experience within areas such as:

  • EMC testing
  • Electrical safety
  • Climate testing
  • Product verification
  • Testing within the automotive industry or another product development environment
  • Standards such as IEC 61000-4 or IEC 60068
