Role Summary
The Sustainability & Utility Manager leads the Sustainability & Utility team, delivering a safe working environment, a sustainable factory, and reliable utility functionality. The role is responsible for compliance with international standards and Swedish legislation regarding EHS, sustainability and utility, OPEX budget, reporting accuracy, and contract management. The role guides external bodies and suppliers through audits and inspections and demonstrates professional leadership, clear direction, and commitment to safety and the company’s vision.

- Number of Direct Reports: 2-10

- Regional/Global sustainability team
- Regional/Global Engineering team
- Other end markets in terms of training and development matters
- External – Relevant Government bodies and institutions, Service providers, External suppliers
- Geographic Scope: Factory
- Travel Required: Occasionally within the area
Accountabilities
- Responsible for a safe working environment and compliance with EHS, sustainability, energy, utility and construction standards.
- Lead and develop the Sustainability and Utility team, ensuring proper competencies and development plans.
- Ensure accurate reporting of data.
- Report incidents to local authorities and collaborate with regional sustainability team.
- Manage risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and improvement of way of working.
- Lead the SUST pillar (sustainability).
- Manage cross‑functional forums, monthly EHS meetings, and yearly management training.
- Drive work within the EHS roadmap, GOM, BIA, BCP, AWS, Energy Mapping, 10 golden rules toward compliance.
- Provide project support where EHS or utility is required and propose improvement projects.
- Guide external bodies and suppliers during audits and inspections.
- Maintain document management, folder structure and contract management.
- Manage OPEX within Sustainability and Utility.
- Promote more sustainable energy consumption through process improvement, innovation and future‑proof concepts.
- Set directions for teams, drive changes, track trends and innovations, and implement them.
Leadership Accountabilities
- Act as ambassador for EHS tools and processes within Malmö Operations.
Relationship Accountabilities
- Build trust and authentic relationships through behaviour and support actions.
- Maintain close relationships with support departments to drive EHS process improvements.
Scope of Authority
- Decision‑making authority over budget and implementation of new processes and improvements.
- People management decisions for the team.
- Assess performance, conduct ratings, drive and coach improvement plans.
- Delegate responsibilities and change work tasks.
- Authority to take disciplinary actions.
- Authority for rehabilitation discussions.
- Authority to initiate hiring for empty positions.
- Make hiring decisions in collaboration with 1+ manager and HR.
- Approvals for POs up to 100 KSEK.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
- Minimum 3 years university study in sustainability, construction EHS or similar education.
- Experience and knowledge in EHS, sustainability and utility compliance with Swedish legislation.
- Solid knowledge of industrial production company operations.
- Knowledge of facilitating trainings and shaping L&D policy, including basic knowledge of psychology, coaching, capability models and change management.
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English.
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office.
- Knowledge of legislation regarding EHS, Environment and Utilities.
- Ability to identify, organize and execute improvement initiatives.
- Capability to quickly adapt and self‑improve.
- High degree of autonomy while being a team player.
