Job summary

Flightradar24 is seeking a Staff Mobile Engineer and Tech Lead to anchor mobile technology and drive architecture decisions in Stockholm. You will mentor a team of engineers, shape long‑term strategy, and ensure scalable, high‑quality iOS and Android experiences.

Based in Stockholm, you will collaborate across product, design and QA to deliver world‑class mobile applications for a global audience, while modernizing the codebase and release processes. Relocation is not offered.

The position requires that you work from our office in Stockholm, Sweden. Relocation is not offered.

What you’ll do

As Staff Mobile Engineer and Tech Lead you will act as the technical anchor for our mobile teams, driving architecture decisions, shaping our long‑term strategy, mentoring a team of 10 engineers and ensuring consistency, scalability and excellence across both iOS and Android platforms.

Your responsibilities include

• Owning the mobile technical roadmap, including architecture, engineering standards, and long‑term scalability across iOS and Android
• Leading the evolution of our iOS platform while driving cross‑platform alignment in architecture, patterns, and best practices
• Modernizing and refactoring our codebase into a modular, testable setup, while improving CI/CD, build performance and release workflows
• Collaborating closely with engineering, product, design and QA to deliver high‑quality user experiences at a global scale
• Mentoring and guiding engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership and continuous improvement

Who you are

You are a senior mobile engineer with a strong foundation in iOS development and a genuine interest in building scalable, high‑quality mobile products. You have experience mentoring engineers and ideally have previously worked in a Tech Lead or similar leadership role. You have experience working with complex systems, understand what it takes to modernise and evolve a mobile codebase over time, and are confident navigating cross‑platform environments and contributing to alignment across iOS and Android teams. You care deeply about code quality, testing and developer experience, and take pride in building maintainable, well‑structured solutions and great end‑user experience. You are a collaborative and communicative team player who enjoys mentoring others and creating alignment across teams.

We believe you bring

• Deep expertise in iOS development, including Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI and modern concurrency
• Experience contributing to or leading architectural decisions in large‑scale mobile applications
• A solid understanding of cross‑platform development, with the ability to collaborate with and guide Android teams
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, testing practices and CI/CD workflows
• A proactive mindset, with a drive to improve performance, reliability and ways of working

Bonus if you have

• Experience working with real‑time data or high‑frequency data rendering
• Knowledge of map and geospatial technologies (e.g. MapKit, Google Maps SDK)
• Experience optimising performance for large datasets and animations on mobile
• Familiarity with background processes, location services and push notification systems
• An interest in aviation, flight tracking or real‑time data products
