Software Engineer - Maps Developer Platform (Mapkit JS) / Map Web Apps

Work Type : Fixed Term Contract (6-12 Months)

Work Mode: Fully Onsite (no Remote / Hybrid option)

Main day to day activities:

• Eliciting requirements from our clients and translating them into scalable, reliable code
• Eliciting requirements from our product managers / designers and translating them into delightful and performant user features
• Designing APIs enabling developers both inside and outside of Apple to build mapping features into their apps
• Collaborating cross-functionally with Human Interaction Design, Services, and other Engineering and Data teams
• Developing, launching, and maintaining cross-platform features that integrate Maps with the Apple ecosystem
• Working with QA (and sometimes bootstrapping them) by developing and maintaining test tools and test cases

Key Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Ability to explain complex problems clearly and succinctly
• Passion to collaborate and iterate on ideas on a cross-functional team
• A keen eye for software design and architecture
• Developing reusable components used by several different clients
• CI/CD: Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (Docker)
• Systematic troubleshooting / debugging mindset and experience
• Collaborating cross-functionally with Human Interaction design, QA, Services, and other Engineering and Data teams.

Additional Skills

• Familiarity with Swift and Objective-C
• API Design: Designing and building public APIs
• Rendering experience: Computer Graphics APIs, e.g. OpenGL, Metal, WebGL
• Technical writing: Contributing to or authoring developer documentation
• CI/CD: Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (Docker)
• Performance: Performance as a mindset, familiar with front-end performance optimization techniques, such as lazy loading, code splitting, and minimizing render times.
• Flexibility and ability to break up work into smaller deliverables is key.
