Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Signalling Configuration Engineer for its Solna, Sweden, site. The role requires handling a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic within the signalling domain.

The successful candidate will work with Signalling Software design, configuration activities, and cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Engineering Degree or equivalent technical background.
• Fluent knowledge of English (written & spoken).

Responsibilities

• Deliver signalling software design and configuration activities for the signalling system.
• Produce functional design documentation, schemes, specs, test reports, and interfaces.
• Lead reviews for configuration activities including data verification and file generation.
• Ensure input data and executable files are issued and controlled per processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering and configuration methodologies.
• Document corrective actions and preventive actions from lessons learned.
• Provide accurate effort and schedule estimates to project leads.
• Coordinate with System Engineering, V&V, and other stakeholders for project delivery.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated Signalling Configuration Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Solna, Sweden.

Accountabilities

• Ensure the delivery of Signalling Software (SW) design and configuration activities for the signalling system in compliance with project requirements, quality standards, budget, and schedule.
• Ensure the delivery of Functional Signalling Design documentation, including schemes, specifications, test reports, system requirements and architecture documents, interface control documents, scheme plans, control tables, block design, and related analyses, in accordance with industry standards, company processes, and project requirements.
• Lead and ensure the execution of reviews for configuration activities, including input data verification, data preparation, parameter production, and software file generation.
• Ensure that all input data, technical documentation, and executable software files are issued, managed, and controlled in accordance with company processes, procedures, and configuration management guidelines.
• Contribute actively to the continuous improvement of engineering, design, and configuration management processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Ensure the effective implementation of lessons learned by identifying design errors, process inefficiencies, and tool‑related issues, while documenting corrective and preventive actions to support continuous improvement.
• Provide accurate effort and schedule estimates (hours and timelines) for assigned tasks to the Work Package Leader (WPL), Project Engineer (PE), Project Manager (PM), or Line Manager (LM).
• Interface and coordinate effectively with System Engineering, Work Package Leaders, Planning, Verification & Validation (V&V), System Integration, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Education/Qualifications

Engineering Degree or equivalent technical background.

Languages

Fluent Knowledge of English (written & spoken)
