Job summary

EggAI is seeking a very strong senior software engineer to design, build and operate production AI-backed systems. You will join a small team (2-6) on client projects and own end-to-end delivery, including production operations and on-call responsibilities.

We hire for engineering strength first: write robust software, reason about failure, and own what you ship. Applicants should have AI experience and be comfortable with Python and TypeScript/JavaScript, plus cloud and containerization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing, building and maintaining production systems.
• Production AI experience: GenAI in production.
• Owned code in production: deployment, monitoring, on-call or equivalent.
• Distributed systems fundamentals: services, queues, retries, idempotency, failure modes.
• Databases: schema design, query performance, migrations.
• Operational rigour: automated testing, instrumentation, CI/CD.
• Client-facing ability: can discuss real business requirements with non-engineers.
• Languages: Python (primary), TypeScript/JavaScript; Go/Java/C#/Rust acceptable.
• Infrastructure: cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerisation.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the production systems at the centre of the engagement, end to end - you own what you ship, including after it's reached production.
• Lead architecture discussions for your part of the system, with the support of the wider team.
• Take ownership: pick up the ambiguous problem, chase down the answer, and say so when something is going wrong.
• Work directly with the client's engineers and with our project manager / product owner.
• Work in a "normal" team rhythm - daily standups, planning, retrospectives, code and design review.
