Zusammenfassung

Boliden in Sweden seeks a senior strategic rock mechanics engineer to help prepare Garpenberg for its future as a productive, sustainable and safe mining operation. You will contribute to long-term planning and geotechnical development.

You will work with a dedicated engineering team in the Long-term planning section, supporting junior engineers and coordinating with external consultants. The role requires a master’s in geotechnical/mining and 10+ years of underground hard-rock mining experience.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in geotechnical and/or mining engineering.
• 10+ years experience with underground hard-rock mining.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly; proficiency in relevant software.
• Strong computer skills; experience with CAD software, preferably Deswik and other technical applications.
• Good communication skills and ability to write technical reports for stakeholders.
• Advanced numerical modelling using the ITASCA suite.
• Experience with seismic monitoring using the IMS suite and mXrap.
• Experience with deep, seismically active underground sublevel stoping mines.
• Flexibility in adjusting to large changes in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in Swedish, or willingness to learn quickly.
• Valid B-class driver’s license.

Aufgaben

• Work with our Mine planning engineers within Long-term planning and provide geotechnical input into LOMP designs and sequences as well as to our mid-range planning horizon.
• Conduct geotechnical risk assessment of LOMP and Budget plans including stope dimensions, mining sequence, infrastructure placements and ground support designs.
• Support numerical stress modelling and geotechnical analysis for mine design and planning.
• Work closely with exploration and mine geology to develop a geotechnical block model and routines to maintain it.
• Support the development of our understanding of rock mechanics, including structural geology, hydrogeology or seismology.
• Provide input to mine planning that enables economic extraction of Garpenberg’s resources.
• Participate in research and development initiatives focused on rock mechanics and mining innovation.
• Provide technical guidance and support effective collaboration across the organization.
