Job summary

Hitachi Energy is expanding its team in Sweden and seeks a Senior Project Controller to join the Power Quality Global Center of Competence, based in Västerås or Solna with optional partial remote work.

The role focuses on financial controlling, guiding project performance, and partnering with project managers to manage EC/ETC, revenues, cash flow, and risk across the full project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in project controlling, preferably within a global company.
• Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
• English, both written and spoken, required; Swedish is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and communication skills across functional boundaries.
• Goal‑oriented, proactive approach with a problem‑solving attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial support to project teams across the full project lifecycle (tendering, project execution, project close-out, and warranty).
• Support the tender manager on financial aspects during the tender stage, including the risk review process.
• Collaborate with the project manager on all financial and commercial aspects (EC, ETC, revenues, cash flow, risk).
• Prepare project invoices, manage currency risk, tax issues, bonds and guarantees, and financial accounting and reporting.

Opportunity

We are expanding our team and are looking for a Senior Project Controller to join one of our product groups at Hitachi Energy, the Power Quality Global Center of Competence. This role offers an interesting and challenging position in an international, dynamic and positive working environment. Locations: Västerås or Solna, Sweden, with the possibility to work part‑time remotely.

In this role you will play a key role in financial controlling by providing valuable support and guidance in all financial and commercial matters, while actively driving project performance. This position is ideal for you if you find it easy to keep things in order according to their priority and like to complete tasks within the agreed schedule. You react to any changes and deviations in the projects’ financial status and find the reasons behind the changes. You are able to take control of project finances together with the project managers.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Provide financial support to project teams across the full project lifecycle (tendering, project execution, project close‑out, and warranty).
• Support the tender manager on financial aspects during the tender stage, including the risk review process.
• Jointly assume responsibility with the project manager for all financial and commercial aspects of the project, including estimate at completion, cost-to-complete, forecasted revenues, cash flow, risk and opportunity assessment, and ensuring alignment with other functions such as project controls and planning/scheduling.
• Prepare project invoices, manage currency risk, tax issues, bonds and guarantees, and financial accounting and reporting with support from relevant departments.
• Drive and seek optimization of project cash flow, revenues, and gross margin contribution together with the project manager.
• Act as a business partner to advise and support the organization in areas related to future state financial performance, providing finance consulting and insight on alternative business scenarios.
• Monitor and review the project governance process to ensure high quality of financial data and business information in line with defined standards and financial closing schedules.

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in project controlling, preferably within a global company.
• Work experience in related areas such as business controlling, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis or similar is advantageous.
• Experience working with SAP is highly desirable.
• English, both written and spoken, is required; Swedish is considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills across functional boundaries.
• Goal‑oriented, proactive approach with a problem‑solving attitude.
