CoolPeople Technology is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer / PostgreSQL DBA to lead hands-on Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations. The role emphasizes building a stable, scalable PostgreSQL environment and working with development teams to translate requirements into robust database designs.

You will focus ~80% on migration activities and 20% on review and optimization, with attention to internal performance, indexing, and operational reliability.

Qualifications

• Extensive production experience with PostgreSQL as a DBA/Database Engineer.
• Proven hands-on Oracle→PostgreSQL migration experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, indexing, query planning, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Migrate existing Oracle database services to PostgreSQL with minimal downtime.
• Handle schema conversion, datatype mapping, and functional equivalence.
• Review indexing strategies and tune PostgreSQL configuration and queries.
• Collaborate with application teams to design PostgreSQL schemas.
• Explain differences between Oracle and PostgreSQL and document learnings.
