Job summary

The Department of Plant Breeding at SLU – Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for a senior lecturer in horticulture with emphasis on plant genetics and genomics. The role combines research and teaching, aiming to advance disease resistance, quality and climate adaptation traits in Nordic horticultural crops.

Ideal candidates will have a PhD, proven research funding success, and strong pedagogical skills with supervision experience.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree required in biology, horticulture, plant breeding or genetics.
Experience in basic and applied research and plant breeding/pre-breeding.
Ability to obtain external research funding.
Pedagogical skills teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervision.
Experience supervising doctoral students.
Completed higher education teaching training or equivalent knowledge.
Good knowledge of English.

Responsibilities

Establish and develop internationally competitive research aligned with strategic goals.
Apply for external research funds in competition.
Plan, lead and implement research projects.
Develop synergies with other relevant research at the department.
Publish scientific articles.
Develop, lead and conduct teaching at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral levels.
Supervise students at all levels in the educational cycle.
Develop and maintain national/international networks with researchers, industry and authorities.
Communicate about research and research results.
Be able to teach in Swedish or another Scandinavian language.
