Senior Lecturer in Distributed Large-scale Software Systems

Lund University, LTH, Department of Computer Science. The position is positioned within the ELLIIT Excellence Center, a partnership between Lund University, Linköping University, Blekinge University, and Halmstad University.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in Distributed Large-scale Software Systems, including container architectures, distributed databases, and stream‑processing frameworks.
• Teach courses across first, second and third cycles of study.
• Supervise degree projects and doctoral students.
• Seek external research funding.
• Collaborate with industry and wider society.
• Perform administrative tasks related to teaching and research and contribute to departmental management.

Qualification Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent research competence in the subject matter of the post.
• Demonstrated teaching expertise.
• Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or equivalent knowledge.

Assessment Criteria

• Good national and international standing as a researcher.
• Strong teaching ability and experience leading diverse educational activities.
• Capability to supervise doctoral students to Ph.D. level.
• Ability to collaborate with wider society and communicate research outcomes.
• General leadership and development skills.

Additional Requirements

• Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
• Significant documented research experience from academia or industry.
• Publications in internationally leading conferences or journals (e.g., SIGMOD, VLDB, IPDPS, CIDR, EuroSys, IEEE TPDS, ACM SOSP, Usenix OSDI).
• Collaborative skills, initiative and independent problem‑solving ability.

Other Qualifications

• Documented experience of interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in other areas of computer science.
• Documented experience of developing reusable artefacts and software tools linked to publications.
• Documetned experience teaching courses in distributed software systems and/or databases.
