Job summary

Hykmann Global Business Solutions AB in Stockholm is seeking a Senior Kafka Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and operate multi-cluster Kafka environments with a focus on security, observability, and platform stability.

You will run Strimzi on Kubernetes, implement CI/CD with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD, and collaborate with security, architecture, and development teams to deliver scalable messaging platforms for client projects.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of hands-on Kafka at platform level.
• Strong experience with Strimzi and Kafka on Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka Connect API and KRaft.
• Experience with HiveMQ or enterprise MQTT platforms.
• Strong understanding of Kafka cluster administration, performance, security, scalability, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, operate, and maintain multi-cluster Kafka environments on Kubernetes.
• Plan upgrades and security patching with minimal downtime.
• Develop and maintain Kafka Connect Source/Sink connectors for legacy-cloud integration.
• Design scaling strategies, storage, and resource allocation for high-volume workloads.
• Manage topics, partitions, retention, and cluster resources.
• Implement HA, DR with cross-region replication and automated failover.
• Manage Schema Registry and support Avro, Protobuf, JSON Schema governance.
• Secure ingress, authentication, RBAC, SSL, and mTLS.
• Build observability with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Provide Tier 3 support for incidents and performance issues.
• Collaborate with security, architecture, and development teams.
