We're working with a growing boutique technology consultancy in Gothenburg that's looking for a Senior Integration Specialist / Backend Developer to join its engineering team.

This isn't a standard backend role.

You'll be helping design and build an integration platform connecting external software with complex enterprise systems, with a particular focus on APIs, middleware and securely transferring data between highly protected environments.

You'll have genuine input into how the solution is designed and built, so they're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems and bringing ideas rather than simply working through predefined tickets.

What you'll be doing

• Building and maintaining a middleware / integration platform
• Developing APIs and integrations across multiple systems
• Integrating third-party software into large enterprise environments
• Designing secure methods of transferring data between protected environments
• Solving integration challenges involving authentication, firewalls and restricted systems
• Contributing to architecture and technical decisions
• Supporting deployment and production environments

What we're looking for

The biggest requirement is strong integration experience.

You'll ideally bring:

• Strong backend development experience with Java or C#/.NET
• Proven API development and system integration experience
• Experience building middleware or integration solutions
• Understanding of authentication, secure data transfer and enterprise security
• Some exposure to DevOps, CI/CD and deployment
• Experience within large enterprise environments

Previous experience in security-sensitive, defence, telecoms, government, critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments would be a bonus.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who is confident, consultative and happy to have an opinion. They want engineers who challenge ideas, suggest solutions and enjoy working directly with stakeholders.
