About The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Data Engineer to build out our data platform from the ground up. You’ll join a small, focused Platform Team and take ownership of our data infrastructure as we set up a self‑service analytics capability for the entire business. The operational foundation is already in place: a serverless architecture on AWS, domain services with their own databases, and solid observability through Datadog. You’ll spend your initial time building the analytical layer—a separate data platform that decouples analytical workloads from operational databases and gives business stakeholders direct access to the metrics and data they need without filing tickets to engineering. The initial architecture direction is being defined; you’ll have real influence on technology choices, architecture patterns, and how data flows through the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build data pipelines that move data from operational databases into a dedicated analytical data store
- Own the data platform end‑to‑end: ingestion, transformation, storage, and the query layer that business users interact with
- Set up and maintain self‑service BI tooling so non‑technical stakeholders can explore data independently
- Define a semantic or metrics layer that gives the business consistent, trustworthy definitions of core concepts (revenue, delivery performance, customer metrics, etc.)
- Help make data accessible to AI workflows through connectors and integrations, with clear governance over what data is exposed and how
- Integrate third‑party data sources into the platform where needed
- Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting
- Collaborate with domain teams to understand their data, shape what gets promoted to the analytical layer, and ensure pipeline contracts are solid
- Own data governance, retention, access control, and compliance practices across the platform
- Co‑decide on tooling and architecture with the CTO and Platform Lead as the platform evolves
About You
You’re an experienced data engineer who likes to build and then live with what you’ve built. You’re pragmatic, take ownership end‑to‑end, and move comfortably between deep technical work and a clear conversation with business stakeholders without hiding behind jargon. You think of yourself as an engineer first, make smart trade‑offs rather than reaching for the heaviest tool, and care about getting things right in production — not just on a whiteboard.
What we’re looking for
- At least 5 years of data engineering experience, having both built and maintained data infrastructure in production
- Strong hands‑on experience with AWS data services such as S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda, or Step Functions
- Experience designing layered data architectures where raw data becomes trusted, query‑able business data
- Solid pipeline engineering skills across both streaming and batch
- Handled systems you built, evolved the architecture as requirements changed, and lived with edge cases
- Python proficiency for data engineering work
- Comfort with MongoDB or other document databases as a data source
- Experience setting up BI or analytics tooling for non‑technical users
- Built things end‑to‑end rather than owning one narrow slice
- Good instincts for analytical data modelling
- Use AI tooling to move faster, yet can judge code quality and spot when an AI agent produces sub‑par output
High value if you also bring
- MongoDB Atlas and Change Streams experience
- TypeScript and/or Go (our engineering stack)
- Infrastructure as Code with Pulumi
- Serverless architecture experience
- Event‑driven data processing patterns
- Datadog for monitoring and observability
- Experience making data available to LLMs or building data connectors for AI workflows
- Logistics or supply chain domain knowledge
What we offer
- A data platform being built from scratch, not inherited
- Direct architectural influence alongside the CTO and Platform Lead
- A modern serverless stack on AWS with MongoDB
- A 70+ person company where your work is visible and matters
- Interesting data problems in the logistics domain
- A team that values pragmatism over theoretical purity
- A competitive salary in the range of 50’–70’ SEK per month, tailored to your background, skills, and previous experience, along with a locally adapted benefits package designed to support your well‑being and growth
