Job description

Are you an experienced Senior Business Controller with a good foundation in accounting? We’re looking for a passionate individual to help us harness the power of the wind to change the world for the better. Join us to find your element working for fossil freedom. As a Senior Business Controller for our Business Area Wind team, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and strategic decision‑making by translating finance into business strategy.

Our wind, solar and batteries business offers a unique opportunity to be in your element working to help harness the forces which will take us to fossil freedom.

As part of BAWind you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting‑edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.

As our Senior Business Controller, you’ll be the driving force behind controlling costs and providing invaluable support to our Project Delivery & Engineering team. Your role will extend far beyond number crunching – you’ll be responsible for crafting reports that not only paint a clear picture of our financial health but also resonate with non‑finance team members. Stakeholder management will be a key aspect of your day‑to‑day activities, requiring a blend of confidence and clarity in delivering financial messages to individuals across the organization. The ongoing SAP 4 HANA implementation as well as the increased usage of AI tools are offering the unique chance of shaping the future reporting landscape from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include overseeing the coordination and delivery of our annual 5‑year business plan and monthly forecasts. But it doesn’t stop there – you’ll also play a vital role in ensuring that our financial operations align seamlessly with our strategic objectives. This means diving deep into the intricacies of our FTE/FTC plans, optimizing our charge‑out infrastructure, and spearheading efficiency initiatives that drive sustainable growth.

  • Assisting the Finance Business Partner for the Project Delivery and Engineering Department
  • Compiling and delivering monthly reports for the department, which includes data processing, time‑writing reports, and management reporting (P&L)
  • Offering finance/commercial support (and challenging assumptions) to the Engineering areas by providing timely analysis of their performance, identifying trends/improvements, and recommending actions to management
  • Preparing the 5‑year Business Plan and monthly forecasts for Engineering
  • Overseeing the data structures used for reporting
  • Participating ad‑hoc in project and strategic improvement initiatives
Qualifications

Our ideal candidate is positioned at an advanced stage of their professional finance career, demonstrating stakeholder management and the ability to communicate financial topics in an approachable way, while remaining eager to learn and excel within an international setting.

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience‑based qualification) in a relevant field such as controlling, economics, accounting, or finance.
  • Over 7 years of experience in finance roles with a focus on business partnering.
  • Prior responsibility for organizing and executing planning and control cycles, as well as overseeing performance management for entire business segments.
  • Demonstrated ability as a true business partner, actively contributing to key decision‑making processes.
  • Aptitude for problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and translating financial data into actionable insights.
  • Previous exposure to SAP and Power BI is advantageous.
  • Past involvement in the Wind or Energy sector is beneficial.
Additional Skills and Strengths
  • Ability to anticipate and address the needs of customers and partners within their respective domains.
  • Facilitation of cross‑functional collaboration to foster innovation and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent comprehension of financials and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in English being essential.
  • Proactive mindset with a talent for problem‑solving and a willingness to explore new approaches.
  • Strong teammate capable of both supporting and constructively challenging stakeholders.
  • Capacity to deliver results through collaboration and serve as a role model within the organization.
  • Commitment to embodying Vattenfall’s values of openness, positivity, proactivity, and safety.
Our offer

Good remuneration, a challenging and international work environment, and the possibility to work with some of the best in the field. You will be working in interdisciplinary teams and you can always count on support from committed colleagues. We offer attractive employment conditions and opportunities for personal and professional development.
