Job summary

Flightradar24 in Stockholm is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to quickly understand existing systems and deliver value from day one. You will evolve backend services, design data pipelines, and play a key role in architectural decisions.

The role requires working in Stockholm, Sweden, and relocation is not offered. You will build high-volume real-time telemetry and data processing systems, improve data ingestion and storage, and contribute to CI/CD and reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with software development in C++, Python, Go, Rust (or similar).
• Strong experience designing and operating production backend systems.
• Experience with data engineering architectures for ingestion and transformation.
• Experience working with cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS.
• Solid understanding of data stores and event-driven/streaming architectures.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services for high-volume real-time aircraft telemetry.
• Design and improve data ingestion, streaming, and event processing (batch and real-time).
• Refactor and enhance existing services, pipelines, and infrastructure.
• Implement robust data collection, transformation, and storage solutions.
• Operate and improve cloud-based platforms (primarily AWS).
• Improve observability, reliability, and operational tooling for production systems.
• Contribute to CI/CD, testing, code quality, and documentation practices.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, and analysts to deliver reliable data products.
