Job summary

Univrses is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design, build and scale the systems behind 3DAI™, handling geospatial and time-series data across road networks. You will work hands-on with Node.js, TypeScript and AWS, owning features from design through production.

You will contribute to API design, database schemas, security, logging and monitoring, while embracing AI-assisted development and modern software practices in a hybrid Stockholm setup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript and AWS.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and GraphQL.
• Strong hands-on experience with geospatial and time-series data (PostGIS).
• Experience with serverless computing or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation, Docker or Serverless Framework.
• Experience designing and reasoning about distributed systems, including asynchronous processing, caching, queues and service-to-service communication.
• A strong approach to code quality, including unit and integration testing.
• Bonus points: experience with Kafka, observability tools, CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and scale backend services that support the storage, processing and visualisation of large volumes of geospatial and time-series data.
• Design efficient and maintainable solutions across APIs, database schemas, security, logging, monitoring and scaling.
• Own features end-to-end, translating high-level specifications into production-grade services.
• Design and work with distributed systems involving asynchronous processing, caching, queues and service-to-service communication.
• Use AI-assisted development and agentic workflows to accelerate development while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Contribute to code quality through testing, technical discussions, knowledge sharing and modern software engineering practices.
