Job description

You will be an integral part of our QA team in Stockholm, collaborating closely with Game Designers, Programmers, Artists, and Production across the studio. In this role, you will ensure stability, functionality, and overall game quality.

Your mission is to rigorously execute thorough test cases, and pinpoint functional issues before they reach our players. You have an analytical eye, a methodical mindset, and the ability to articulate technical problems clearly so they can be resolved swiftly. If you thrive on breaking systems to make them better and love collaborating in an agile game development environment, we’d love to meet you.

Please note that this is a fixed term contract until June 2027. This position requires for you to be in the office 5 days a week to use specific hardware.

What you’ll do
  • Perform functional & qualitative testing: Execute hands-on functional testing across PC and console platforms, verifying gameplay mechanics, systems, UI, and feature integration.
  • Write & execute test plans: Analyze game design documents to create, maintain, and execute comprehensive test cases and checklists for new and existing features.
  • Report & track bugs: Identify, reproduce, isolate, and document bugs with clear reproduction steps, logs, and video captures using our bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Verify fixes & run regression tests: Validate bug fixes, monitor build stability, and run regression passes to ensure resolved issues stay resolved.
  • Collaborate cross-discipline: Work directly with developers, designers, and producers to understand feature intent, flag risks early, and provide clear visibility on build quality.
  • Champion quality: Proactively communicate concerns, identify edge cases, and advocate for best testing practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Who you are
  • Experienced in game testing: You have 2 plus years QA/QC experience within the video games industry.
  • A platform all-rounder: You have practical experience testing games on both PC and console environments.
  • A meticulous communicator: You possess excellent English (verbal and written) and have a proven standard for writing clear, concise, and reproducible bug reports.
  • A tenacious problem-solver: You approach issues systematically—you don't just notice when something breaks; you love figuring out the root cause and edge cases.
  • Collaborative & proactive: You have strong interpersonal skills, take direction well, can meet deadlines, and aren't afraid to raise concerns when quality is at risk.
  • You have experience reading crash logs/call stacks and using debugging tools.
  • You hold a degree or diploma in Game Development, Software Testing, or a related field.
  • You are an avid gamer with passion across multiple genres.

Note: Research shows under-represented groups in the industry might not apply to a job if they don’t check off every requirement. At Avalanche, we’re more about your drive to learn and interest in tackling challenges than what’s on your resume! So don’t stress if you don’t tick every box— shoot us your application anyway! Diverse opinions and different experiences are what make our teams so great, not itemized lists of qualifications.
