Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Compliance Counsel based in Sweden.
Join an international, remote-first organization developing innovative digital products that help people build meaningful connections across cultures and communities. As Product Compliance Counsel, you will play a key role in ensuring that digital products, marketing activities, and emerging technologies meet applicable legal and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with Product, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to identify compliance risks, review new features, and support responsible product development. Your expertise will help navigate complex consumer protection, advertising, digital platform, sanctions, and artificial intelligence regulations across the EU and US markets. You will also contribute to regulatory monitoring, compliance training, and the continuous improvement of internal policies and controls. This opportunity is ideal for a legally trained professional who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, digital innovation, and international regulatory compliance.

Accountabilities
  • Product Compliance: Review and approve product specifications for websites and mobile applications, ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements and platform policies. Assess risks associated with product features, user journeys, monetization models, and digital service functionality. Participate in product compliance audits and incident response activities.
  • Marketing Compliance: Review advertising materials, promotional campaigns, and marketing communications to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and platform requirements. Advise Marketing teams on consumer protection, advertising standards, promotional claims, and potential legal risks. Support marketing compliance audits and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions, particularly in the EU and US. Assess their impact on digital products, marketing practices, and business processes, communicating regulatory updates and supporting the implementation of necessary changes.
  • Sanctions Compliance: Track sanctions-related regulatory developments and support the implementation and maintenance of internal sanctions policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Compliance Awareness and Training: Contribute to the development and delivery of compliance training programs and onboarding materials. Create, maintain, and update internal compliance guidance, practical playbooks, and knowledge resources to promote consistent understanding of regulatory obligations.
  • AI Compliance and Governance: Review AI-enabled products, features, and third-party artificial intelligence integrations to assess compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Support AI-related risk assessments and help implement appropriate governance frameworks and controls.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders to integrate compliance considerations into product development and operational decision-making, balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives and user experience.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Law or an equivalent legal qualification.
  • Knowledge of consumer protection legislation in the European Union and the United States, with the ability to assess its implications for digital products and online services.
  • Understanding of marketing and advertising compliance requirements in the EU and US, including promotional claims, digital advertising practices, and consumer-facing communications.
  • Familiarity with European and US digital legislation, regulatory frameworks for technology platforms, and emerging requirements related to artificial intelligence governance.
  • Knowledge of Apple App Store and Google Play guidelines, including platform-specific requirements affecting mobile applications, monetization, and product functionality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian, at a minimum B2 level in both languages.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex legal requirements and translate them into practical guidance for business and technical teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify, assess, and communicate compliance risks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in an international, remote-first environment.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach, with an interest in digital products, emerging technologies, and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Benefits
  • Fully remote working: Full-time remote work with the flexibility to work from different locations.
  • Competitive compensation: Salary range and initial compensation details shared during the recruitment process and before employment begins.
  • Annual vacation: 28 calendar days of paid vacation per year.
  • Wellness leave: Seven additional wellness days annually to manage personal matters, rest, or recover without using sick leave.
  • Referral bonuses: Bonuses of up to $5,000 for recommending successful candidates for eligible positions.
  • Professional development: 50% reimbursement for eligible professional training, international conferences, and industry meetings.
  • Language learning: Corporate discounts on English lessons.
  • Health support: Health benefits, including compensation of up to $1,000 gross per year for eligible employees who do not qualify for corporate medical insurance. This allowance can be used toward independently purchased health insurance or medical expenses for the employee and eligible close relatives, subject to the applicable policy.
  • Home office support: Workplace equipment and facilities provided at company offices or coworking locations. Depending on location and eligibility, reimbursement of up to $1,000 gross once every three years is available for home office setup, internet, furniture, or coworking expenses.
