At the division of Data Science and AI, we develop data‑driven methods and AI solutions that support intelligent decisions across society, advancing machine learning techniques, from foundations to industrial and scientific applications.

About The Research Project

You will work in Julian Togelius' new research group at Chalmers as a key senior member of the group. In your position, you will be expected to both continue on your existing research program and to support the research of other team members, ideally finding strong synergies.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with Julian Togelius' research before applying. The new research group will continue various themes of his research program, including complementary intelligence, open‑endedness, and the intersection of AI with for example video games, design, creativity, and philosophy.

Who We Are Looking For

The following requirements are mandatory:

  • A doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A strong publication record within artificial intelligence indicative of a budding independent research program
  • An open and collaborative personality
  • Eagerness to mentor Doctoral students

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

  • It is highly meritorious if the doctoral degree has been obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline

Contract terms

The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.

The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.
