Linköping University invites applications for a PhD student in sustainable and resource-efficient machine learning. You will design experiments, develop methods to reduce compute, energy, and memory while maintaining model quality.

The project is hosted by the Division of Statistics and Machine Learning (STIMA) with SAINTS, collaborating with Copenhagen; initial term four years with extensions for teaching.

Qualifications

• Master’s level in ML, CS, mathematics, statistics, physics or related area.
• Minimum 240 credits, at least 60 in advanced courses in the above subjects.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong programming in Python; knowledge of LaTeX and Git; comfortable with GNU/Linux.
• Strong drive for fundamental research and ability to collaborate.

Responsabilités

• Design and run reproducible experiments; measure resource metrics.
• Implement prototypes in Python and communicate results through publications and talks.
• Collaborate with STIMA and SAINTS labs; define research directions with supervisors.
• Publish results in conferences and journals.
