Job summary

Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm invites applications for a doctoral student position in immunometabolism and metabolic engineering for a functional HIV cure. The project investigates AKG homeostasis and metabolic networks using organoid models and patient cohorts.

You will work under supervisors and participate in MERIT network activities, with opportunities for secondments and international collaboration to advance the understanding of virus-host interactions and immune metabolism.

Qualifications

• English proficiency required at CEFR level C1/C2.
• Master level or equivalent education is required for doctoral studies.
• Strong motivation for international, multidisciplinary research network.

Responsibilities

• Define immunometabolic mechanisms shaping HIV-1 persistence within infected tissues.
• Identify microenvironmental determinants linked to HIV-1 persistence and cellular dysfunction.
• Evaluate host-directed metabolic strategies to disrupt HIV persistence in organoid models.
