Job summary

Billerud is seeking a Network Technician to secure and modernize IT/OT network landscapes across Europe, based in Sweden with potential placements at Gruvön or other Swedish sites.

You will work with local IT/OT teams, the Global Network team, IT Security, vendors, and partners to ensure reliable, secure networks supporting production. Fluency in Swedish and English is required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in IT, Networking, CS or equivalent.
  • 3+ years hands-on network infra experience in industrial/OT environments.
  • Fluent Swedish and English, written and spoken.
  • Experience with Cisco-based networks is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support IT/OT network infrastructure across mill locations.
  • Monitor network performance and manage incidents, requests, changes.
  • Support network upgrades, lifecycle replacements, and modernization initiatives.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize network infrastructure and services.
  • Contribute to network security improvements and compliance (NIS2, ISO 27001).
  • Collaborate with local site teams, vendors, and global IT functions to resolve complex issues.
  • Participate in IT/OT integration projects and production-related infrastructure initiatives.
  • Support disaster recovery, redundancy, and business continuity efforts.
  • Maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist with procurement, vendor management, and hardware planning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of network services across Europe.

We are strengthening our global network team with a Network Technician specialized in IT/OT who will focus on Billerud’s shared network platforms across Europe. This role plays an essential part in ensuring secure, stable and future‑ready OT/IT network environments that support our critical production operations.

About The Role

Over the coming years, Billerud is continuing its journey to modernize and standardize our IT/OT network landscape across Europe. Key focus areas include improving network reliability, strengthening cybersecurity, supporting compliance initiatives such as NIS2, and enabling future digitalization within our production environment. As a Network Technician, you will play an important role in making this happen.

The position is based at one of our Swedish production sites, preferably Gruvön, but can also be located in Gävle, Frövi, Skärblacka or Karlsborg. You will work closely with local IT and OT teams, the Global Network team, IT Security, vendors, and external partners across our European operations.

This is a hands‑on technical role where you will combine operational responsibility with participation in modernization and infrastructure projects. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a wide range of technologies, from established industrial environments to modern, security‑focused network solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local site teams, vendors, and global IT functions to resolve complex network issues
  • Participate in IT/OT integration projects and production‑related infrastructure initiatives
  • Support disaster recovery, redundancy, and business continuity efforts
  • Maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures
  • Assist with procurement, vendor management, and hardware planning
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of network services across the European organization

Participation in an on‑call rotation may be part of the role.

Qualifications
  • A degree within IT, Networking, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • At least three years of hands‑on experience working with network infrastructure in an industrial, manufacturing, or OT environment
  • Strong knowledge of switching, routing, VLANs, wireless networking, and enterprise network technologies
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure, preferably Cisco‑based environments
  • Understanding of network security principles and best practices
  • Experience working with structured IT processes and documentation standards (ITIL experience is advantageous)
  • The ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve network‑related issues
  • Fluent communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
